Frequently Asked Questions
Below you’ll find answers to our most commonly asked questions.
You can count on personalized support around the clock – by email, live chat, or by joining a live webinar.
Can I leave parts in the printer after they finish?
Yes, Formlabs SLA printers have an orange cover that blocks UV light, so you can leave parts in the printer with the cover closed to protect them.
Is there a way to recycle used solvent?
Yes, Formlabs recommends recycling solvents for environmental and costs concerns. Investing in recycling Isopropyl alcohol (IPA) reduces waste and disposal costs, production emissions, purchasing costs, and supply chain interruptions.
Which Formlabs resin has the highest impact strength?
For the highest impact strength among Formlabs materials, choose Durable Resin. Other good options include Tough Resin or Grey Pro Resin.
What kind of resins does Formlabs 3D printers use?
There are 3 types of resins available: Standard Resins, Engineering Resins, or Nylon Powders (for the Fuse 1).
Custom-formulated Standard Resins deliver the highest-quality output plus capture astonishing detail without sacrificing strength. Engineering Resins are versatile, reliable, and formulated to help reduce costs, iterate faster, and bring better experiences to market. Nylon Powders 3D print production-ready, end-use parts on the Fuse 1 printer. Check out our Formlabs Resins Library.
What is the average lifespan of a Formlabs printer?
The lifespan of your printer depends on many factors. However, all Formlabs printers must pass a rigorous endurance test. The 36-month design operation test ensures a long-lasting, quality printer.

Creo Illustrate is a technical publications software that allows technical illustrators to generate illustrations and animations directly from any 3D CAD designs

With the power of Creo Illustrate, technical publications now have more impact and provide greater value to the organization than ever before.

3D technical illustrations enable individuals to absorb complex information quickly
Technical illustrations make it possible to quickly and accurately communicate complex product, service, and parts information to the people that need it the most throughout the entire product lifecycle.
TO DEVELOP 3D CONTENT AT SCALE & EFFICIENTLY, CONTENT CREATORS MUST HAVE THE RESOURCES TO:
01
Create 3D illustrations from existing engineering files
02
Auto-update illustrations when product changes occur
03
Reuse illustrations/animations across multiple tech pubs
